But you know what? I did it. Changing database was nowhere near as complicated as I had first feared. GoDaddy sent me an article which showed me how to back up and restore databases but, using the knowledge that I have accumulated when other things have gone wrong over the last four months, I was able to create a new database and restore the backed up version of the old one into the new.
